Our Scientific Research Centre gives our customers an edge over others as research can be carried across two different divisions which complement each other: Plant Biotechnology Division and Microbiology Divisio. Plant Biotechnology Division: We conduct continuous research for the conservation and propagation of elite and endangered medicinal and aromatic plant species. To facilitate our research and preservation efforts, SRC established protocols for clonal multiplication of Patchouli and Geranium which are used in making fragrances. Tissue culture studies have been undertaken on a number of plant species such as Aquilaria Agallocha, Pogostemon Cablin, Pelargonium Graveolens, Cistus Ladanier, Chrysanthemum Cinerariaefolium, Nothapodytes Foetida and Phyllanthus Niruri. Gene Bank, Breeders Stock, and Micro-Propagation Protocols are developed for endangered and economically important aromatic plants including those used in Ayurveda and traditional medicine. We apply Genetic Engineering Methods to develop Novel Transgenic and specific Gene Cloning involved in Stereo Specific Bio-transformations in Mentha and Vanilla. State-of-the-art Molecular Marker Technology is incorporated for the development of molecular markers in Jatropa. Other facilities include a greenhouse which comes with automatic humidity and temperature control for the propagation of clonal plants being raised through the means of tissue culture. The centre also facilitates the cultivation of Patchouli and Geranium for farmers with an assured buy-back. Microbiology Division: Our microbiology laboratory has been actively involved in Bio transformation, in-vitro antimicrobial testing, in-vivo Efficacy Studies of the final formulation used in the cosmetics which adheres to Standard BIS and ASTM methods. The laboratory also comes equipped with Bio-safety units and temperature controlled shakers. A number of bio reactors have been installed for mass production of plant and microbial cells. The laboratory has its own Downstream Processing Section which is equipped for extraction, isolation, purification of products and analysis with GC, HPLC, HPTLC and GC/MS instruments.
