Leg penetration analysis (LPA) of Jackup rigs with risk assessment (punch through potential) is one of the key core competences of SGES. We have performed assessment on several projects in India and South East Asia and Middle East, to estimate spudcan penetrations. Our expertise gained over several rig moves has helped in refining the soil models based on observational approach in different geographies necessary for performing the analysis. Rigbased Coring At times when the geotechnical information is not available for moving the rig, SGES will mobilize necessary drill tool attachments and wireline sampling tools depending on the facilities available on the Jackup rig (e.g., Drill pipe size, connections etc). A job briefing will be conducted by our qualified and trained geotechnical engineer prior to the commencement of coring. An onboard laboratory will be setup to test to classify and log the samples in concurrence with drilling. Our engineer will be assisted by trained and experienced technicians. At the end of boring a spot assessment of leg penetration/risk assessments will be made. The site geotechnical engineer will participate in any technical meetings and be onboard until the completion of preloading.
