Nipping-the process of reducing/knoking-out the SWELL in the spine of a thread-sewn or unsewn book-block to be prepared for Hard-Case of Soft-Cover binding resulting in firmness, solidity and enhanced consistent quality of the finished product Book Traditionally the book-blocks with spine glued or unglued were hammered at the spine with the help of a mallet. This process could never assure uniform thickness of the spine, which adversely affects the binding and finish of the book. The spine can be set to a precise desired size by using single or double stroke.

The product is used for flattening of album. For this type of machine, a brake motor of frequency conversion is adopted, which makes the pressure adaptable. This may ensure the optimal flattening effect of album and avoid uncontrollable flattening effect of ordinary pressing machines resulting from their squeezing pressure generally unable to change gradually. NIPPING the process of reducing / knocking out the SWELL in the spine of a thread sewn book-block, being prepared for Hard-Case or Soft-cover binding adding in firmness, solidity and enhanced quality of the finished product BOOK. Traditionally the book-blocks for Hard or Soft Cover binding with the spine-glued or unglued were hammered at the spine with a wooden which adversely affects the Binding and finish of the BOOKS. Duration of stroke/s controlled with the help of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) set in 0.1 seconds increments for the desired size. Once the required parameters are set for a given lot of book-blocks, all books of the same lot will have uniform spine thickness. On an average 700/ 800 books (single block upto 30mm spine thickness) can be pressed per hour. Other operator friendly features are: Selection of Manual, Single or Multi-Stroke option; Counter for number of book-blocks processed; Dedicated switches for Clamping and Nipping functions in Manual Mode. Safety: Emergency Switch and and Recycle Push-Buttons are located conveniently on the Top Cover. Incase of an accident or the process needs to be cancelled midway, the Emergency Switch aborts the cycle.

Smashing is the process of compressing and removing the air from the folds and flattening of the Overall area of the Book-Blocks. Smashing strokes can be set in multiples to suit the compacting requirement for the desired rectangular shape. After the Smashing cycle the Book-Block is held firmly and Nipping operation follows for knocking out the excessive swell in the spine. Book-Block should be rectangular in shape and free from extreme gradients in the folded sewn area for quality enhanced life of the BOOK.

Other operator friendly features are: Selection of Manual or Semi-auto mode; Counter for number of Book-blocks processed; Dedicated switches for Clamping and Nipping functions in Manual Mode. Emergency Switch Recycle Push Buttons are conveniently located on the Top Cover. Emergency Switch aborts the cycle and resets the machine to starting position. For operator???s safety: both the Push Buttons are required to be pressed simultaneously for initiating the cycle; an intricate Safety Device (sensor based) is incorporated as additional protection in case of malfunction of Recycle Switches or the operator???s hands are in the way of the clamping area. For uninterrupted production, Support Device is provided to ensure the book-blocks are held upright and are not allowed to sag to avoid triggering of Sensors during processing. The high Speed blower/exhaust fan ensures the ambient temperature in the Power Pack Area is maintained. The latest Hydraulic Technology Controls make it possible to process 700/800 books (single bookblock upto 30mm spine thickness) per hour. Castors provided for maximum space utilisation mobility. Power saving feature is incorporated. The motor switches off automatically after a pre-set delay time provided the Recycle Switches are not activated within the set time. Nipping results are best achieved if the signatures (soon after folding / gathering) are pressed in the ???JOY??? Bundling Press.
