1. Assessment The customer s site is thoroughly inspected to identify and evaluate the level of pest activity. During this inspection, conditions such as poor hygiene practices and structural weaknesses that may contribute to pest problems are noted and reported to the customer for corrective action. These inspections are conducted before developing the pest management plan and are also carried out periodically to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
2. Prevention Prevention focuses on eliminating the basic needs of pests food, water, and shelter. This includes storing food in sealed plastic or glass containers, properly managing garbage in tightly closed bins, and ensuring regular disposal of waste. Clutter is reduced to remove hiding places for pests, and cracks or openings in structures are sealed to prevent entry. Preventive methods may involve physical, chemical, and biological approaches.
3. Pest Management Treatment Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is applied to control pest problems while minimizing risks to humans and the environment. It combines different control methods to manage pests effectively in various environments, including urban, agricultural, and natural settings. Treatments are selected based on the severity of infestation and the specific pest identified.
4. Monitoring Regular monitoring is an essential part of IPM. It involves identifying pests correctly and assessing their presence along with beneficial organisms at different stages. This helps in making timely and appropriate management decisions. Effective monitoring requires proper sampling methods, accurate record-keeping, and knowledge of pest behavior and populations.
5. Documentation Proper documentation is maintained for accountability and compliance. This includes business and applicator licenses, certificates of insurance, proof of training, service specifications, device maps, service reports, trend analysis reports, annual facility assessments, and records of approved pest control materials used in the facility.
